The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) has confirmed they will come to Normal on Friday, June 16th after the Summit to conduct the Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certification prep course and exam. The course and exam will take place on the ISU campus with the location TBD. Click here for more information.
Candidates are required to register for the certification exam through the IAEM website and pay the certification fee in advance of the offering so that IAEM can coordinate the registration process as well. The cost of the prep course is $495 a person and the exam is $395 for USD IAEM members/$595 for USD non-members. The deadline to register is June 2nd, 2017. If there are not 10 registrants the course will be cancelled. To register, click here. (people will still need to pay to sit for the exam)
Taking and passing the exam is one step of the certification process. Once you take and pass the exam, you have one year to submit your application package for either the Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) or Certified Emergency Manager (CEM). It is up to the candidate whether to apply for the AEM or CEM. Once the application package is submitted, it will be reviewed by the IAEM Certification Commission to see if you meet the requirements for the certification.
